HEATSEEKER RISK PROFILE
While all film and television investments come with an element of risk, Heatseeker opportunities are targeted specifically to minimize exposure.
At Heatseeker we mitigate risk through backing a producer’s wider slate, as opposed to individual film or TV projects,. It’s similar to a film EIS equity investment but structured as a loan. There is no tax element and therefore no loan approvals are required from HMRC.
We also tie all our contracts to the individual producer, so the debt remains their personally and must be contractually repaid within the loan term.
Equally, we only approve manageable and appropriate loans at a bespoke level for each producer, ensuring they are not onerously burdened and can repay the loan and premium.
BONA FIDE PRODUCERS ONLY | 1 | At a high level, this is a small industry. Heatseeker only invests in producers with excellent reputations and track records. |
TRACKING LOANS | 2 | Because our loans are contracted to both the company and the individual producer, the debt stays with them regardless of production. |
EXISTING WORK | 3 | It’s always our preference to work with producers with whom we have a pre-existing relationship, and they’ll be given precedence among those who apply for our loan facility. |
MULTI-PLATFORM SLATES | 4 | Both contractually and in terms of output, we deliberately work with producers active in both film and TV. That way, if we loan ostensibly against a film, but a TV project goes into production first, the loan is repaid from the TV show |
